What you'll learn in this beginner painting class:
Through demonstration and individual, hands-on help, you’ll learn all the basic watercolor techniques in a small, zero-pressure class. No drawing experience or artistic skill required – really. Complete supply kit available for $50. You will learn various brushstrokes, color mixing, and layering glazes as we create landscapes, still life, trees, flowers, and more.
There will be planned exercises in all basic techniques. Class is designed for those who have never painted with watercolor, or who "just made a big mess" when they tried. This will be a small class with zero pressure and lots of patient help.
Required Materials:

Required Materials:
- If you prefer, you can buy a "Beginner's Kit," with everything you need, for $50 (about 20% less than shopping for individual items) at the school directly.
- A 12-sheet pad of 9x12” Arches top-quality paper;Half a tube of each of 8 colors, plus refills during class if you need them;A portable folding palette;Six quality brushes, in various sizes

If you decide after the first class that the course is not for you, you will be charged $40 for the first class and receive the balance as refund.

This is a wonderful class! The instructor, Joan Iaconetti, was right when she said I didn't have to know how to draw to learn how to use watercolor -- or have any prior art experience. She teaches you simple techniques and tricks, gives clear instruction, and is full of encouragement and praise. She loves what she does and it shows in how she teaches the class and interacts with her students. I learned so much and now I'm hooked on watercolor! I've already signed up for another class!

This was a terrific intro to watercolor. Small group, nice environment, terrific teacher. Just the right amount of structure, information and help to get a beginner started and excited. Everyone was successful at creating lovely work right from the first class. Teacher is supportive and organized. Each lesson is followed up with an email and blog entry recapping everything taught that session. Lots of links to helpful inspiring websites and homework suggestions to continue working on the skills.
