What you'll learn in this digital photography class:

This photography course covers well beyond the basics of your Digital camera and exposure. Classes will be made of different topics each week, from night photography, through motion blur, composition & framing, focus control, built in flash, and the basics of digital post processing.

Students will be given weekly assignments and photo critiques, as well as in-class photo shoots which will further strengthen the techniques learned during each class. Weather permits, some sessions will consist of shooting workshops around Union Square, NYC, where students will practice shooting in real life scenarios.

Students will also develop a series of photographs of their own choice throughout the duration of the course that will be showed case in a group photo exhibit (optional).View samples of our Digital Photography I students' work here.

This course is highly recommended prior to any other, including Portraiture and Street Photography.

Requirements: Any digital camera. Manual Mode is highly recommended. For the first class, please try to bring your manual for reference.

Note: Should the assigned instructor become suddenly unavailable, we'll allocate a substitute instructor.

Attended: Digital Photography I

So far so good I attended my first class and I learned about my camera modes, ISO, Aperture, white balance, shutter speed, ect and there functions. I look forward to learning more and taking my camera to capture new detailed images

Attended: Seminar iPhoneography

Great class. Lots of learnings. I am very interested in going back to take other classes.

Attended: Composition & Framing

This class really helped me to see things differently. And Maria was so nice. A good listener and always wiling to help you. I'd take a second class from her in a minute!

Attended: Field Trip: Exposure Fundamentals

It was fine. I definitely learned some basics on adjusting various manual modes in order to get the right exposure level for several types of photographs, but I have a lot more to learn and a lot more practice to do!

Attended: Digital Photography I

Fantastic class, Maria the instructor was fantastic. Had recently purchased a new fancy camera and now I feel like I can take full advantage of it. Very excited to be taking pictures and will participate in student exhibition and take level II class

Attended: Digital Photography II - Complete Composition & design

It gives you clear knowledge of the use of the camera, you get to practice and comment your pictures in the class, it helps you if you already know the basics but are not an expert.

Attended: Field Trip: Exposure Fundamentals

Brief class, but very informative, good presentation, excellent assistance and feedback from the instructor, both in the classroom and during the outdoor photo shoot.
