What you'll learn in this music theory class:
This Program offers a fully immersive opportunity for aspiring music majors to delve deeply into jazz style, improvisation, and theory. Classes meet for 4 hours on Saturdays and include theory sections and small and large ensemble studies for instrumentalists; vocal techniques classes, theory sections, and ensemble studies for vocalists.
Students recently performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, on NBC Television, for NYC Mayor Bloomberg, and at major NYC jazz clubs. If you are looking to take your jazz up a notch, all while working with peers your age, this class is for you. Rhythm sections often include pro players in the ensemble. Performances/concerts are integrated throughout the year.

Refund Policy
WORKSHOP/CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations are never accepted over the phone.
- If you cancel more than 31 business days before the first day of any semester, we will retain $30 of your tuition payment. You will receive a refund of any additional program tuition you have paid for that semester.
- If you cancel 30 business days or less before the start of any semester, you will forfeit your entire program tuition for that semester. You will not get a refund. However, you may donate your spot as a scholarship to a financial need student.
- There is no refund for no-shows or withdrawals after the class begins.
- For transfers made 31 business days or more before the first day of a semester, students will be charged a transfer fee of $30.
- No transfers are allowed less than 31 business days before the first day of a semester.
The following cancellation policy applies to all Intensives programs. All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations are never accepted over the phone.
- Cancellations received 61 business days or more before the first day of the first week of all Intensives will result in a tuition refund, less a 4.0% non-refundable deposit.
- Cancellations less than 61 business days before the first day of the first week of the Intensives will result in no tuition refund.
- No transfers are allowed less than 61 business days before the first day of the first week of the Intensives.
- Transfer requests received 61 business days or more before the first day of the first week of the Intensives will be considered ($50 transfer fee applies).
We are not responsible for providing make-ups or issuing refunds, credits or transfers for days or entire workshops/courses/private lessons missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond the Academy’s control, including weather-related conditions (icy roads, etc.). Students will receive a tuition refund (minus a nominal 4% bank fee) only in the event that the Academy cancels the workshop, course, or private lesson.
