Explore the basics of nature writing in this afternoon seminar. Through close examination of published work and in-class exercises, hone your descriptive powers, injecting vibrancy and lyricism into your prose. Learn how to create work that conveys the physical beauty of the natural world, while also telling a story or making an essayistic argument.
Open to fiction and nonfiction authors of any level. Students will be provided a selection of short pieces to read before class—classics by authors like Michael Pollan and Robin Wall Kimmerer, as well as contemporary work by Alexander Chee.

If you must withdraw fewer than 7 business days before the class, we will refund your fee only if your space can be filled from a waiting list.
