User Experience Design Bootcamp (2-Day)

We’ll start day one demystifying UX by giving a practical and simple introduction to what UX is while also explaining some of its core concepts of usability. You'll complete hands-on exercises, brainstorm and collaborate with other students. You will go home with a digital prototype of a mobile app.

For day two, we’ll shift from screen-first interaction to voice-first interactions and learn key concepts for voice design. We will practice creating and testing voice experiences using digital tools.

This workshop is for UX beginners who want to learn how to design a product by actually doing it or anyone who wants to start or continue building their UX portfolio.

If this class is recorded, students will be sent the recording link within 7 days after class completion by email. Students are encouraged to download and save any shared materials (worksheets, deck if applicable) during class for later reference as they are not be shared by email.

Day 1: Digital Interfaces

• Intro to UX

• Learn what is UX and why it’s important

• Practice UX during hands on activities 1:1 and group collaboration

• Practice research skills, affinity mapping, persona creation, wireframes and paper prototyping

• Create interactive mobile prototype using Marvel/Invision

Day 2 : Voice Interfaces

• Learn why we should consider voice interactions

• Practice Voice Interaction Design during hands on activities 1:1

• Practice research, storyboarding,scripting, brief writing, creating utterance logs and testing voice interactions

• Design and test a voice user interface using SayWizard

• Practice the design thinking methods and strategies that lead to successful products.
• Understand how UX fits into your team's workflow.
• Gain knowledge of the terminology of UX Design along with useful tips and resources (i.e. How to become a UX Designer).
• Hands-on exercises including: research, scenarios, personas, user flows, prototyping, and user testing.
• Practice your collaboration, brainstorming, and sketching skills.
• Create an interactive prototype.

Preparation

• You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection.
• This class will occur completely online using Zoom.
• Class setup information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) your class launches.
