What you'll learn in this food tours class:

It's a known secret that Jamaica Plain -- or "JP" to the locals -- has some of the tastiest and freshest food in Boston, but it's a bit hidden from the "beaten path" destinations such as nearby Fenway Park. In fact, some JP residents want to keep it that way, and this tight-knit community is definitely keen on preserving the neighborly feel.

Originally part of Roxbury, Jamaica Plain was first home to wealthy and middle class residents who wanted to summer or live outside of the city where they worked. Later on, JP has become very well known for America's First Craft Beer, Sam Adams, which is still brewed here today.

On this exciting tour, our local guides will share the most delicious food on Centre Street while learning about JP from its connection to Moxie to famous residents. We will sample a variety of local, independent concepts often owned by JP residents themselves.

This food tours runs approximately 2 hours, with 5-6 stops and includes all tastings. After the tour, there is an optional extension to hear stories about historical JP breweries and visit a nearby micro-craft brewery with our guide (a 15 minute walk) that's already yielded quite a following.

This tour is suitable for all ages. Vegetarian friendly!

Please show up to the meeting spot 10-15 minutes early to check in with the guide.

NOTE:
  • We also allow a special optional trip to a nearby brewery for an additional $15 + 5% tax -- if you'd like to be on this trip, please select the schedule with this option below.
  • Gratuities are not included in the ticket price. It is customary to leave a tip at the end of the tour. Recommended amount is $10/guest. Thank you so very much!

Meet inside City Feed and Supply PLEASE NOTE: There are TWO locations of City Feed in Boston. This one is located across the street from the J.P. Licks ice cream. Please look for our guide holding a binder with our logo printed on it. If you don't see the guide, please call or text the guide (their information will be sent the day before the tour.) MBTA: Taking the train is not recommended, but you can take the Orange Line towards Forest Hills and get off at the Green Street station, which is a 0.4 mile walk (10 minutes) from our first stop. Parking: Our tour runs 2 - 2.5 hours so it is easiest to take the train or Uber/Lyft to Jamaica Plain. There is a free, lighted parking lot on Burroughs Street behind Blanchard's Liquors (741 Centre Street) which is a short 5 minute walk from City Feed & Supply, our first stop.
