Teaches at New York Botanical Garden

Sourabh Gupta - a New York-based Indian-born multidisciplinary designer and maker-- working at the intersection of art, design, and architecture.

While his inspirations to question, explore, innovate and create are surely broad, at the center of it all is but one desire-to create. Amongst other things, his recent work also explores the idea of flowers in the nature.

While studying at The Parsons School of Design, he was given a project to design an unconventional Flower-Shop and in the exploration and research for that project, he found and started to view and question the idea of flowers. And now he takes up the interest of studying them as intricate micro words on their own and expressing them through shape, form, color, and material as botanical sculptures. Sourabh began working with them out of paper and now he is expanding to use porcelain, metal and other everyday materials to create that moment in a plat that is a frozen second of poetry-- when the light shines on the petals and dances as the wind goes by.

His recent work has been featured in The New York Times, T magazine, Elle Magazine, Reuters TV, India Design Forum, Bolton Historical Museum, Design Boom, Instagram original content, and at the Met Gala as Tory Burch's gown this year.

Sourabh's upcoming work will also be included at a show at Lyndhurst Museum in the Hudson Valley, this spring issue of T magazine and Kinfolk garden book published by The Artisan Publishers New York.
