Krista Ellensohn, originally from LeMars, Iowa began dancing at the age of five at a local studio in her hometown. She immersed herself in multiple styles including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern and tumbling. At the age of 18 she moved to New York to pursue a degree in Business at Marymount Manhattan College. She continued her love for dance by training extensively at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and the Ailey School from top professionals including Suzi Taylor, Milton Meyers, Karen Gayle, Jana Hicks, Joe Lanteri, and Joshua Bergasse. In 2009 she moved to Iowa City to complete her BBA in Business Management with a Dance Minor and a Performing Arts Entrepreneurship Certificate from The University of Iowa. Upon graduation, Krista moved to Chicago to work as an intern at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Her internship transferred into a full-time administrative role, which she could not be more proud of.
Throughout her time in Chicago, Krista has continued to train as a dancer at the Lou Conte Dance Studio. Here she discovered her love for hip-hop from leading Chicago dancer/choreographer, Trae Turner. Hip-hop has opened many opportunities for Krista. She has performed in Chicago Carnival, The ONE, Colombia Faculty/Grad Showcase, Mad Expressions Showcase in Atlanta, & Hip Hop International Championships in Las Vegas to name a few. She joined BOOM CRACK! Dance Company in September 2012, and continues to play an active role in the company. Krista has been teaching and choreographing since 2003. She became a certified Dance Masters instructor in 2009 and received her Zumba® license in 2011.
