Theresa Mieseler

Teaches at The Morton Arboretum

Theresa and husband, Jim, founded Shady Acres Herb Farm in 1977 and semi-retired in 2016. Herbs are Theresa’s passion and it shows within her. In 1999 Theresa introduced the flavorful Shady Acres Rosemary and in March 2019, Theresa’s book, Beyond Rosemary, Basil, and Thyme was self-published. Theresa is a lifetime member of the Herb Society of America and in 2010 was awarded the Nancy Putnam Howard Award for Excellence in Horticulture. As an International Herb Association member Theresa was vice-president and board member. Theresa is continuing to teach others about growing plants through a monthly newsletter, presentations and events. Theresa was on staff at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum from 1969 until 1991, where her career in herbs began. After leaving the Arboretum she redesigned the kitchen and cloister gardens. She has written for numerous magazines and presents extensive programs and lectures about herbs in Minnesota and throughout the country.
