Learn to spin your own yarn on a drop spindle. This class is for all beginners who want to learn what making your own yarn is all about.
Learn how to spin both worsted and woolen yarn, how to ply your yarn, and what to do when your yarn breaks.
Class includes a spinning wheel demonstration. Techniques covered include: tying a leader, drafting, spinning worsted and woolen yarn, what to do when yarn breaks, how to ply and how to set the ply.
Course Fee includes four hours of instruction plus materials.
Materials:
- Drop spindle
- Roving (available for purchase in-store)
Class Sessions:
Session 1: Covers history of spinning, how to make and attach a leader, drafting and loading the spindle
Session 2: Ply and set yarn, talk about different types of fiber and their preparation, and a spinning wheel demonstration
Skill Level: Beginner
