Lynn Gertenbach

Teaches at Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art

Lynn Gertenbachwas born in Wisconsin, and received her formal art education at the Colorado Institute of Art, Denver and Art Center School of Design, Los Angeles. She also attended the UCLA, and studied with well-known artists Sergei Bongart, Phillip Gilkerson, Bettina Steinke and Bernard Dunstan. Gertenbach has a spirit for adventure and began traveling around the world when she was 21. She spent many days in Europe’s great museums drawing knowledge from the Old Masters. Gertenbach is especially fond of India, and has visited and painted in the country seven times. Lynn lived in Laguna Beach during in the early part of her career and exhibited at the Laguna Art Festival as well as participation in a group show at the Laguna Museum of Art. She had a one woman show in 1972 with 75 of her India works, hosted by LACMA’s Dr. Pratap Pal. She has exhibited in the Pacific Asia museum, the Carnegie Museum, the Fredrick Weisman Museum, Malibu, the Haggin Museum,and the Isetan museum, Tokyo. Lynn was inducted into the Hall of Fame and received the Life Achievement award from the Colorado Institute of Art. She has also exhibited in the Denver Rotary “Artist’s of America” show from 1994-97. Her work has been purchased by the prestigious California Club as well as the Southern California Edison Company. She has been commissioned to paint the likes of Maestro Zubin Mehta, Maestro Ravi Shankar, Tippi Hedren, Eva Gabor, and other corporate executives.
