Ramon Hurtado

Teaches at Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art

Ramon Hurtado is a contemporary genre painter living in LA. He attended USC on a full scholarship and was also accepted into UCLA, Art Center College of Design and Laguna College of Art and Design. He has been the recipient of various honors, including the prestigious Stacey Scholarship, a first prize award from Lucasart’s student art competition and membership into the California art club’s mentor program. Currently, Ramon teaches various drawing and painting courses at LAAFA, where he also serves on the portfolio review board.

I really liked this class - mainly because Ramon is such an incredible teacher and learned so much from him. I had not taken a figure drawing class in over twenty years, so I was very unsure of my drawing ability. Ramon really helped me to gain the confidence I needed as well as teaching me new/better techniques.
