Tom O'Brien

Teaches at Yogala Studios

Tom has been teaching yoga in New York City since 2006 and relocated to LA in 2015. He did his first teacher training at his mentor, Elena Brower's studio, Virayoga. 

Tom came to the practice of yoga in his early twenties after a college hockey career that brought on debilitating arthritis. His study and practice of Anusara yoga and it's alignment principles helped cure him of arthritis and inspired Tom to become a teacher. Tom continues to use these alignment principles in his teaching. His classes are a mix of long strong holds with alignment instruction while mixing in a vinyasa flow. Tom's philosophical influences include Buddhism, Eckart Tolle and Abraham-Hicks. 

In New York Tom has taught at Virayoga, Twisted Trunk, Shri Yoga, New Field Yoga, Equinox and Crunch Gyms as well as privates and corporate classes. Tom is also an actor filmmaker. He and his wife, Jessie Barr, created an online series about yoga, OM City.
