Description
What you'll learn in this drawing class:
Join Elody Gyekis for an exploration of drawing methods using animals as subject. Students will have the chance to experiment with charcoal, graphite, ink, and watercolor. Elody will cover gestural techniques exploring motion, posture, and proportion; as well as more refined drawing methods exploring the various surface textures and expressions found in the animal kingdom.
Through demonstrations, lecture, and individualized feedback Elody will teach additive and subtractive drawing techniques, dry and wet media, and working quickly versus building a longer drawing up over time. Students will learn about drawing from life versus photographic references; methods of translating what you see onto a two-dimensional surface, and various artists' approaches to depicting animals throughout art history.
Remote Learning
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
Refund Policy
100% refund will be issued up to seven days after the first class. After this, no refund will be issued.
MAKE-UP POLICY
Unfortunately, we do not offer makeup classes. The instructor can tell them what they missed. Most of our classes are taught atelier style. If there is a demonstration during the particular session, after the demonstration the instructor goes to each student to work with them on a one-to-one basis. During this time the instructor can work with the student who missed the previous week, talk with them and explain what to do.

I only went twice. I work the overnight shift at JFK. I am outside all night in all types of weather and have to move fast to get all done. I made it to the first 2 classes and then when we had shift bids, my day off was changed making Saturday my Monday. Since then I have not been able to get up in time. Other days I sleep from 0700 - 1400 hours.
I would have liked theory the first time and not just draw. Guno did go around to each person and give suggestions and critique. I hope that there will be an afternoon class that starts at 1500. That would be nice and I would take that one.
There were several repeat students so I am thinking that the class was good.
Me taking earlier classes is senseless.
