What you'll learn in this metal working class:

Come in and bring to life the knife, dagger, or sword that's been in the back of your mind all this time. I'll work with you to bring that historical, video game, movie, or fantasy blade to life on your schedule and at your pace. This is where my love of teaching and creating unique blades come together to make your dream blade a reality.

No prior forging experience is required. Materials and safety gear are provided, just wear the right clothing, eat a big breakfast, and bring a water bottle; We typically take 30 to 60 minutes for a group lunch around 1pm except for Sundays.

Expect projects to be broken apart over several (non-consecutive) days/classes. Additional time beyond what's estimated will be discussed on a per-project basis; this is very rarely necessary.

Up to 5" blade length. Expect to spend anywhere from 24 to 36 hours on your first knife depending on complexity.

Please Note:
  • This is available to adults and children over 10, however a parent must accompany their child.

  • Wear all-natural fiber clothes (jeans are best) and leather shoes. DO NOT wear anything you care about. Bring lots of water and eat a big breakfast

  • The building is a shared space. When you arrive, call me and I will come to get you.

  • Scheduling for private lessons is flexible and subject to the instructor's availability. If the instructor is unavailable during the date or time originally booked, CourseHorse and the class provider will help arrange for a reschedule that works for both parties. Once a date and time is decided on, the class provider's standard cancellation policy applies. In the event that schedules don't match up and a date and time cannot be scheduled, students are entitled to a refund

Question from Anais G.
It says it takes 24-36 hours to make a knife but the class seems to only be 1 session. How does this work?
Answer from Devon J. Verified Student
After your first initial session, you will use Theo's website to schedule days for 5-6 more visits to complete you knife. The Shop is currently in the process of moving to a space in Industry City, so classes won't be up and running again until after 4/7. Look forward to seeing there! - Devon (forge apprentice)

We had a great time learning to forge a knife with Theo Nazz. Theo is a great teacher and he has a good sense of humor. He's very attentive and explains each step of the process. If you are looking to try something new, this is the class for you. It's awesome that we had the opportunity to learn from a Forged in Fire winner!
