Refund Policy
The school operates on a credit only policy and does not issue any refunds unless otherwise advised and approved by a program director, or only in the event that the school must cancel the program. The credit can be redeemed for any program (and most services) at the school, can be used by any family member on your account, and carries no expiration date.

For a cooking class, a student needs to cancel 72 hrs before the class starts in order to receive a full credit.

For Studio Arts Classes, a student needs to cancel 48 hrs before the class starts in order to receive a full credit.

For programs that meet fewer than 3 times: during the costs and booking commitments associated with one or two-shoot programs, the school regrets that they cannot offer any school's credit for programs, classes, or events that meet fewer than three times per programming season. Additionally, the school cannot be responsible for providing make-ups or issuing any credit for programs missed as a result of personal scheduling conflicts, illness, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond their control.

For programs that meet 3+ times: students may receive school's credit for withdrawal from a program when their cancellation request conforms to the timetable outlined below. There is a $15 processing fee for all transfers and cancellations. 50% school credit will be granted for withdrawal from a school program when a written request is received before the second class. After the second class, JCC credit cannot be granted. (however, students may transfer from one class to another of equal or lesser value if there is space availability and with the program director's approval.) All cancellation request must be submitted to CourseHorse at [email protected] Please allow three to four weeks for processing of your cancellation request and be mindful of the timetable described above.

If there are other sections to make up classes in, it should be okay, as long as it's not the first class.

Question from Michelle L.
Does this include firing and glazing?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Michelle! The glazing is included in the materials fee but the firing is not included. Kiln firing fees are 3¢ per cubic inch (75¢ minimum fee per piece). Re-firings are 2¢ per cubic inch
Question from Amanda H.
Does the class follow a consecutive curriculum? I know I will be out of town for the 2nd class - will I be behind or at a significant disadvantage for every class afterwards?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Amanda! Typically students learn how to make something, the next week they trim (if it's a pot), and then once it is bisque fired, they glaze. If it is a new student and the session is 6 long, then missing 2 is a lot, but if it's a 10-week session, missing 2 is fine. Hope this helps!
Question from Janine D.
Are you able to make up a class if you miss one?
Answer from Kristle C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Janine! School can offer open studio time for a missed class depending on the instructor. If they have more than one section, students can do a makeup into a different class if there is any space.
Question from Anonymous
Are course materials given or payed for separately?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Materials are included in the class price, but open studio and firing fees are not. OPEN STUDIO TIME Get a free three-hour card and schedule at first class. Buy five-hour ($15/$20) or ten-hour ($30/$40) cards at the lobby box office. Cards expire at the end of each term. Students must be enrolled in a course to use open studio time.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
ADDITIONAL COSTS A $30 materials fee is already included in the course cost to cover clay and studio glazes. Shared studio tools provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Kiln firing fees are 3¢ per cubic inch (75¢ minimum fee per piece). Re-firings are 2¢ per cubic inch

Anne is an amazing instructor and is really great at explaining and showing, rather than just modeling or telling how to so something. Such a fun class, and I learned a ton!!

Really enjoyable class! You will pick up some great skills and have plenty of time to complete several pottery pieces. There is a nice, easy going dynamic in the class and all participants & the instructor were really friendly. I highly recommend!

Enjoyed the class but would have liked some more structured instruction instead of trial and error.

I really loved this class. Anne is very cool, knowledgeable, and encouraging, and I liked being able to work at my own pace on projects I was I interested in, rather than having to do the same thing at the same time as everyone else. If you are a highly structured person or not a self-starter you may feel differently, but for me the vibe and structure of the class was ideal.

Instructor Sarah is nice and patiently guide me the entire process from the beginning to the end. It's really a class you can bring home your very first own piece of pottery and would only pay for a few bucks for the firing cost.
