Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this woodworking class:

Design and build your very own old-school Pintail Longboard Skateboard

This workshop will help you build your own self-powered ride – an old school, hardwood pintail longboard skateboard. A longboard is perfect for cruising around and honing your carving skills. And you’ll get bragging rights when someone asks you where you bought your sweet board.

This workshop is an excellent exercise in the core woodworking skills – planing, cutting, and smoothing a rough piece of hardwood. After honing your deck, you’ll attached the rolling stock so you can ride off in style.

You’ll provide a few choices of wood for your deck, including both solid and plywood, as well as your choice of wheel color.

What You’ll Be Making:

  • A classic pintail longboard/skateboard
What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Planing, cutting, shaping, and smoothing hardwood lumber and installing the rolling stock
Skill Level: Beginner — no previous experience is required.

This class was amazing!!! We cut the wood to the shape we chose, stained it, decorated it, picked the color wheels we wanted … we did everything! And finished the class with a masterpiece. Arlene is a great instructor and Jeff is an amazing sidekick. We (me, my adult son and adult nephew) had a great time. I highly recommend this experience.

The Make a Classic Longboard/Skateboard class was fantastic! The instructor created an atmosphere with the perfect balance of educational and fun, providing enough support to guide the class, while still encouraging the "students" to enjoy the process and do their own thing. I'm so impressed by the longboard I got to bring home, and I would suggest this class to any individual, couple or friends looking to do something different, no matter your experience level!

Great class led by knowledgeable Arlene with support, mostly comedic, from Jeff. Small size, so plenty of time to ask questions and get help, but nice that you are making the board by yourself. Like drivers ed, the skateboard carpentry edition, they let you “drive” using all of these intense tools, but they are next to you and that removes any intimidation factor. Turning a wooden plank into a beautiful, rideable skateboard, in a few hours, was a bit of magic.
