Let's travel north in Italy to the beautiful region of Liguria, an area famous also for its Focaccia di Recco, a specialty focaccia bread made with crescenza cheese. Unlike most breads, this recipe skips the yeast and lengthy rising times, making it perfect for a two-hour course or a quick bake at home.
Focaccia di Recco boasts a fascinating history dating back to the Saracen invasions, when Ligurians used their most plentiful ingredients – olive oil, flour, and cheese – to create this delicious bread while seeking refuge in the mountains. To stay true to its origins, we'll use only extra virgin olive oil and "00" flour.
As a bonus, you'll also learn to make ricotta cheese from scratch! By adding it alongside the crescenza cheese you'll enjoy an even richer flavor experience. Of course, getting to taste test your creation fresh out of the oven will be the highlight of the class. Enjoy this intro to bread baking and cheese making experience, all while staying true to the roots of the craft.
No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).
Guests in the same booking party will work together throughout the class. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Drinks are available for purchase from the venue and are NOT included in the ticket price. Outside drinks are not allowed. 21+ only.
