What you'll learn in this international cooking class:

Mirta’s zest for life and passion for her country of Argentina will immediately impress you as she welcomes you to her art-filled home. She will greet you with a hot cup of mate, the traditional herbal tea of Argentina, along with an assortment of snacks, which may include toasted Argentinian bread, artisanal cheeses and charcuterie from her local Argentinian butcher, and her homemade dulce de membrillo (quince paste and jelly).

She will then lead you through the mate ceremony, which will incorporate her gorgeous collection of handmade mate cups and utensils.

Mirta learned to cook while growing up in the mountainous wine country of Mendoza and was influenced by her family’s Spanish and Italian heritage. Her artistry and love of cooking shines through in all of her dishes, which are each presented beautifully and with a deep respect for the history and traditions behind them. At the end of the day you’ll go home newly inspired with all the recipes and a shopping guide to Mirta’s favorite food markets.

Menu for Immersion Workshop #1 (Non-Vegetarian)

Asado de Tira con Chimichurri (Grilled Short Ribs with Chimichurri)
Seared short ribs served with chimichurri, a traditional Argentinian barbecue sauce, made with Mirta’s unique blend of parsley, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, paprika, chili flakes, and oregano.

Chorizo y Morcilla (Grilled Spiced Sausage and Blood Sausage)

Housemade chorizo and blood sausage, from Mirta’s favorite Argentinian butcher, grilled and served on toast.

Humitas (Corn Pudding)
A sweet and savory corn pudding made with fresh corn shaved from the cob, onion, pepper, tomato, and fresh basil. 

Alfajores (Sandwich Cookies filled with Dulce de Leche)
Delicate butter cookies flavored with vanilla and lemon, filled with caramel-like dulce de leche, and rolled in shredded coconut.

Food Allergies: This menu includes dairy, eggs, and wheat.

All Immersion workshops include a light lunch and beverage, 3 hours of hands-on cooking instruction, a full dinner, a recipe packet, and a shopping guide.

Refund Policy

  • If you cancel 13 business days before your workshop you will receive a full credit, which you can apply to another workshop.
  • After that, you may send someone else in your place (we ask you to notify us in advance if you're doing this).
In the rare event that an instructor needs to cancel last minute, students will receive a refund. We do not otherwise offer refunds.

    This felt like a visit to a friend's home more than a class. I learned so much about Argentinian culture as well as the food. It was very easy to follow the recipes and everything was delicious. Mirta's love of cooking, people and her country come through and made this a wonderful experience.
