Interested in starting a career in beer? The market for beer jobs is growing fast, along with the competition for those jobs. Becoming a Certified Cicerone® will help you hit the ground running by distinguishing yourself from the rest of crowd with some verifiable beer knowledge. The public demand for a wider range of beer styles is growing rapidly and completing the exam will not only give you more confidence and eloquence when discussing beer but it will also make you the most knowledgeable draft system employee at your business.
The class will be taught by Michael LaPlante, Certified Cicerone®, and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Michael has worked in some of the most prestigious restaurants in New York City, all while pursuing his passion for exceptional food and beverage for over ten years. Along the way he became an avid home brewer and became obsessed with all things beer. He is always striving to reach higher levels of beer knowledge, certification, and expertise.
This will be a six-class course that is designed to help you pass the Certified Cicerone® exam. Each class will cover a different topic:
- Beer flavor evaluation
- Ingredients, process, techniques, and equipment.
- Beer and Food pairings
- Styles - German, English
- Styles - American, Belgian
- Draft system equipment, theory, troubleshooting. Beer Service and Law
We’ll be providing all the materials and detailed explanations you’ll need in order to pass along with sensory training and guidance for the tasting portion of the exam. We're offering all six classes for a discounted rate of $500 with the first class starting on Tuesday, January 3rd at 6:30pm. Subsequent classes will be on the following Tuesdays (through February 7, 2017).Please note that this does not include the cost of the Cicerone Exam itself.
