What you'll learn in this food tours class:

Kick things off in the pizzeria with the longest paper trail in the U.S. before continuing with pizza styles reflecting the 20th century's evolutionary path.

What's Included:

All tours include a full slice at each pizzeria stop, kitchen tours, in-depth pizza analysis, and everybody gets a take-home Pocket Pizza Journal to help track their tastings.

Weather & Attire:

All tours run rain or shine. Tour itineraries may change if weather becomes a problem but we will always run complete tours. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately, as we will be outside for most of the tour.

What To Bring?

We strongly recommend bringing a refillable container for water. We discourage the use of bottled water, as New York’s tap water is among the cleanest and tastiest in the country.
You’ll also want to bring a camera, your love of adventure and an insatiable appetite.
Please also bring a face mask, as your guide may ask you to wear it while touring pizzeria kitchens.

Accessibility:

This tour is wheelchair accessible.
Restrooms will also be available to customers at most pizzerias.
Most of the walking tours are wheelchair accessible. The only walking tours that are not fully accessible yet are the West Village and Downtown Brooklyn tours, which have steps getting into the first pizzerias.

Refund Policy

Non-refundable, Cannot be rescheduled:

Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded and cannot be rescheduled because your space is being guaranteed at the event.

Activity takes place rain or shine:

The activity runs regardless of weather conditions. In the rare situation where the seller is forced to cancel the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule to another time (subject to availability).

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Not only was the pizza great, but I learned much more about the evolution of New York-style pizza than I'd expected to. The choice of three restaurants took the New York pizza story from its Neapolitan roots, through old-school New York style, to the familiar modern pizza-by-the-slice storefront style, with a wealth of information about the types of ovens and ingredients used for the different styles. We also took a brief side trip past Café Wha? where Bob Dylan got his professional start, and the Comedy Cellar, perhaps the world's premier stand-up club.
