Junior Excel

Broadway Workshop’s Junior Excel Intensive is a 5-day program geared toward students ages 8-14 with an extremely strong passion for the performing arts. Junior Excel students will study the 3 disciplines of musical theatre in small groups, broken down by age. Students will prepare solo and small group pieces in preparation for our end of program production, where they will perform for a panel of New York agents, mangers and casting directors, as well as family and friends. Our final presentation will take place at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, an off Broadway theatre venue.

Each day begins with a group warm up, students will then split up into smaller groups where they will have master classes in Song Interpretation/Musical Theatre Performance, Acting/Monologue preparation and Dance Master Classes making up their Core schedule. In addition to the Core classes students will have special guest workshops New York’s top Casting Directors, Broadway Actors, Musical Directors and Choreographers. 

Broadway Workshop’s Junior Excel teachers are highly regarded professional actors/teaching artists who have starred in major Broadway shows, on Television and in FilmTeachers are highly regarded professional actors/teaching artists who have starred in major Broadway shows, on Television and in Film.

Each Student will need: 

• 2 Musical Theatre song selections in the correct key
• 1 monologue
• Multiple Headshots and Resumes for our Industry Guests

During the Junior Excel week, students will see a Broadway matinee of a new musical. After the performance students will have a private “Talk Back” with cast members of the show.

Note: Students enrolled in the Junior Excel Intensive Program should have prior experience in school or professional theatre.
