The one thing I would recommend would be to focus mainly on phrases that are commonly used in travel. While the teacher was good (and very nice!) he was using the "text book" which should focus on things like how to say "I am an American", "I can't speak French", "Do you speak English?" - phrases like that - which it doesn't cover.
For many people taking a crash course in a language before travel, you just want to be able to navigate quick conversations with people at the cafe, in the cab, etc. A couple more basic phrases should be included to help toward that end.
That all said - sweet teacher, beautiful French accent, and it was a helpful class.
