FAQs 1. What technology do I need to take the class? We aim to make our classes as accessible as possible from a technical perspective. As such, these are our only requirements: Mac, PC or Chromebook with a video camera, audio, and microphone. We highly suggest students use headphones. High speed internet connection. A quiet place to take the class. 2. What tools will students and teachers be using? Our remote classes use Zoom for video conferencing, Slack for chat, and a mix of online platforms and IDEs for writing and sharing code: Google Cloud Shell IDE, Repl.it, Glitch, Github, Atom, and Google Collaboratories. You can learn more about our tools and curriculum by reading about our Python and Javascript courses. 3. What is the student to instructor ratio? We have at least one Upperline Code instructor and one teaching assistant for every class of 20 students 4. What do I do if I need help outside of class time? Our instructors and teaching assistants will be able to provide small group and individual support throughout the day once lectures are done. Students can connect with instructors via Slack and can meet via Zoom to debug code or get additional help with assignments. 5. How many hours per day does the class meet? In the spring, each of our virtual classes will meet for six hours per day via video call. There is also a one hour, offline, lunch break each day. Students will also receive optional extension activities at the end of the video call so they can continue exploring the concepts in the evening if they choose to.
In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund less a 5% non-refundable registration fee.
