Corkbuzz Restaurant and Wine Bar is located in NYC's Union Square. Our menu is built for guests to experience the magic of a perfect food and wine pairing.
Corkbuzz is guided by a simple philosophy: wine is meant to be enjoyed. Co-founder and Master Sommelier Laura Maniec views herself less as the proprietor of a wine bar and more as the enthusiastic host of a never-ending dinner party. Her humble approach is inspired by rich memories of family gatherings filled with laughter and storytelling (and wine, of course).
Maniec and the entire Corkbuzz Staff are generous with their knowledge, welcoming every chance to deepen someone’s appreciation for wine. The classes are unique and engaging. The wine selection is dynamic, smart and approachable. The food is deeply satisfying and built for guests to experience the magic of a perfect pairing. Corkbuzz offers the wine enthusiast and the adventurous novice a chance to experience one of life’s great, intangible treasures: discovery.
I thought that it would be a lesson for beginners so I did not understand the most but it was a good introduction for us to know about wine:) Thank you!
Mother - Daughter outing. Had a wonderful time. Will sign up for other classes.
Blind tasting is a really cool, complex, and interesting thing to learn about, but the presentation here was a bit off. Very slow at the beginning, then very rushed at the end. I left class having learned...that there's a lot to learn. Not sure if there's a natural precursor that should have been recommended (I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about the science of viticulture and vinification (grape-growing and wine-making), so I didn't expect this class to be for novice wine drinkers), or if the class just needs a little more structure to it beyond sampling wines and rather randomly guessing the varietals, but whatever the case is, it could have been a better experience than it was.
This class was so great! Excellent wine selection, and learned so much!
Class was great, but we couldn’t hear what the teacher was saying because the restaurant is too loud. A bit disappointed
I really wanted to like this class, especially since Corkbuzz was founded by a Master Sommelier, but unfortunately the class was poorly managed through and through. The instructor was knowledgeable, but had very poor time management. Halfway into the class, he was still giving us an overview of wines, and we still hadn't had a sip of wine. New York Vintners does a much better job of making it fun by greeting you with a glass of champagne. At 1.5 hours, we've only tasted the first of the 6 wines, which means we sped through the last few wines and stayed for another 35 minutes past the end time. Even though there was bread and cheese provided, they were positioned in such a way that not everyone was within arm's length of it, and trying to shift the cheeseboard around was a pretty high risk venture with all the glasses in front of us.
The class goes deeper than you'd expect into Napa history, terrain, etc. ... and Laura is awesome.
a lot of varieties! thank you!
Great instructor and fun class. Ricotta with the wine was an unexpected treat -- unreal!
