I absolutely loved this class! Kelly Laughlin is an incredible instructor who is clearly passionate about journaling. During this pandemic it gave me such joy to meet and interact with Kelly and all of the other participants. Thank you Kelly for inspiring me to journal once again.

Would have liked to know how our thoughts could be expressed more creatively in our journals. Perhaps suggestions of photos or stamping or calligraphy could be tied into our writing.

The class was relaxing, meditative, and non-intimidating. Kelly, the instructor, walks through the process in a fun and interactive way making it appear 'easy'. She and everyone in the class were kind and supportive of everyone's artistic journey and expression. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening connecting with new people. I thought the time would be too long, and it turns out I could have sat there for much longer!

Thought it was fine, but not great. Instructor was nice, but not a teacher. Also, for the price of $75 it was not worth it.

It was a very organized, well-paced class and a great refresher for simple. Book making techniques. The teacher was knowledgeable and friendly and with most classes at Brooklyn Brainery the vibe is relaxed and quality is good. I also appreciated that we were sent home with the bookmaking supplies we used which makes it very easy to make again. The only thing that I wasn’t crazy about was the paper, though it was strong it was not aesthetically interesting which also made the finished product not look that good. Over all though very happy with the class.

Paper marbling is amazing! The class was super calming and the end result was beautiful. The instructor was enthusiastic and helpful. My only qualm was that the class felt rushed at the end. I was left with a batch of sopping wet very delicate envelopes that I had no good way of transporting. I bunched them together, put them in the small bag the paper came in, hoping for the best. By the time I made it home, they were all stuck together and got torn trying to pull them back apart. The envelopes either need to be thicker paper, or people should be warned to make those first so they have more time to dry. Overall I would definitely recommend this course as a low pressure, meditative, and freeing way to get creative.
