Natalie Elizabeth Weiss

Natalie Elizabeth Weiss is a DJ, composer, playwright, music educator and founder of Baby DJ School. Baby DJ School is an innovative approach to early music education that has been recommended by pediatric neurologists and dubbed “an exciting new musical landscape” by TIME Magazine, “a hit” by the BBC, “really creative and really fun” by Good Morning America with the Wall Street Journal reporting that “parents are just as excited about the music as their kids”

Natalie is also an orchestral composer and was the 2011-2012 Composition-Mentorship Fellow with the Brooklyn Philharmonic She fulfilled two commissions for them: a string quartet and an orchestral piece, the later of which was performed live by the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Natalie also makes music with her band Unicornicopia whose “danceable, insistent music that people will want to hear” (TimeOut NY), has been featured at PS1’s WARM UP, Bowery Ballroom, LPR and Joe’s Pub to name a few. Projects include collaborations with members of Psychedelic Furs, Fischerspooner, Santigold, Chairlift, and Aur Revoir Simone.

As a DJ, Natalie has shared bills with members of LCD Soundsystem, Steve Martin, Meryl Streep, Das Racist and Dave Longstreth of Dirty Projectors. As a playwright she has worked with cast members from Broadway’s Spiderman, American Idiot, Mama Mia, Spring Awakening, Shrek, A Little Night Music, Fiddler on the Roof, The Full Monty, Nine and Tintypes; as an educator she has lectured MFA students at NYU Steinhardt, taught puppetry in the New York Public School system and lead “Inventgenuity” and “Playing with Pedals – two experimental composition classes that were both featured recommendations in The New York Times.
