The Fundamentals of Drawing & Painting

In this workshop given through Zoom, the artist-Instructor: Raphael-Raúl, will introduce the student to the "visual language" of art.  He will teach "The Elements & Principles of Art," which is the basic conceptual understanding that the art student needs before applying a pencil, pen, or brush to paper and canvas. The instructor will introduce the first important step in sound design: "composition," which entails working with "positive and negative shape and space." He will also teach how to see and measure proportion and create the illusion of 3dimensional space through linear perspective and working with "values" to create the illusion of form. At the same time, art students, while learning, will be attempting to create artwork. Learning and creating are not separate, but a unified activity in this workshop. You will learn concepts in the history of art and the philosophy of art while creating your pieces and much more beyond what can be explained in this brief description.
