Casting Directors and Agents want people who can improvise. Why? People who can improvise are more open, creative, relaxed and spontaneous. At Actors Improv Studio, we help actors learn to improvise and improvisers learn to act.
Of course you could spend a lot of money to attend one of the big named "Improv Mills" that use students to feed the machine, and put that on your resume. But if you really want to learn to improvise, to learn skills to be able to improvise at an audition, then you need to train with someone who cares about you learning.
A.I.S. was founded by Second City Chicago alum Bill Applebaum. Bill, a member of the board of the SAG Conservatory, uses techniques he learned directly from those who started the modern improv movement. He helps people access their unique creativity.

I was so nervous to try improv but Bill makes the class less about doing things “right” and all about learning.

This was an excellent class! It was a little more advanced then I expected but the teacher, Bill, made it understandable. I learned a lot more then I expected in this class. It was fun but definitely still a challenge. We did a few warm up improv exercises individually then a lot of interactive exercises with pretty much everyone in the class and it's a pretty diverse group. I was surprised by how talented the other students were, I learned a lot just watching the others. I think my favorite thing I learned was about the "transformation" method and how to transition within a scene. I don't live in LA full time but I will definitely go back to this class when I can!
