Derek Brown

Teaches at Joy of Motion Dance Center

Derek Brown is a professional choreographer, dancer, artist, and director based in the DMV. He has worked with such companies as BET, Def Jam, Disney, FOX, J Records, Manhattan Records, Motown, Seagrams, TV One, Touchstone Films (Step Up), and Universal. Brown has worked with such artists as Jennifer Hudson, Chrisette Michelle, Monica, Mya, Pink, Prince, and Tanu. He choreographed the sexy “Pan Am” girls in Sean Paul’s music video, “She Doesn’t Mind,” which, in its first week, received over 5 million hits. Most recently, Derek had the opportunity to direct Grammy Award-winning songstress, Mya, for the music video “Mr. Incredible.” Derek prides himself on not only bringing original concepts to class and going against the grain, but also his need to bring the best out of the artist he is working with and the best out of himself.
