Over the course of two sessions, learn 12 different stitches and put those new skills to use on your own one-of-a-kind sampler!
Time to put on your best resting stitch face, as we are getting serious about embroidery. Our 12 Stitch Embroidery Sampler WebJam will prepare you to take on just about any type of embroidery project.
Over the course of two sessions, you will learn 12 different stitches and put those new skills to use on your own one-of-a-kind sampler. From bags and tees to pillows and blankets, you’ll be able to add your new stitching skills to any number of future projects, big or small!
Taught by our skilled JamMaster, in two sessions you’ll learn:
- how to prep your embroidery hoop
- how to transfer an embroidery pattern onto the fabric
- the basics of selecting the perfect thread and color theory
- how to start and end your embroidery project
- how to create essential embroidery stitches, such as the back, running, chain, satin, fishbone, stem, seed, lazy daisy, blanket, french knot, Algerian eye and fly stitch, and more.
A basic understanding of embroidery methods and stitches is encouraged. This makes a great companion class to our Embroidery Wall Art CraftJams and/or Learn Basic Embroidery WebJam!
Suggested supplies:
- Embroidery needle
- Embroidery floss
- Embroidery hoop (at least 5" or 6")
- Woven fabric at least 10"x10" (including an extra piece of scrap fabric to practice stitches on first)
- Scissors
- Fabric pen/marker (or pencil if not available)
- PDF download of 12 Stitch Embroidery Pattern preferably printed on self-adhesive, water-soluble stabilizer (e.g. from Sulky) (PDF sent via email)
Neither is an option for you? Look around your home for your true DIY-ad-hoc-emergency-embroidery-kit. Maybe you have a sewing kit from your last hotel stay? Search for woven fabric that can be cut up! You can start with a needle, thread, and pretty much any piece of (woven) fabric. These might not be the ideal supplies, but enough to participate to get those creative juices flowing.
And this is how a WebJam works:
After you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with a custom URL link to join. You will be able to add the event to your calendar. Reminder emails will be sent 2 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start. Make sure to login 10 minutes before the WebJam starts to avoid technical difficulties that may delay you.
You have the option to use video and audio to participate. It’s nice to enable video so we can all see each other's faces and projects!
School Notes:
We are BYOB friendly! Crafting is paired best with your favorite drink of choice! But, you must be 21 or over. Younger? Just have a mocktail. No one will notice ;)
