REDUCATION® is a comprehensive three-day workshop emphasizing hands-on learning with current RED Digital Cinema camera systems and professional RED workflow practices. This practical training program is taught by industry-experienced professionals and accommodates all skill levels, from aspiring students to experienced working professionals. REDUCATION instructors provide in-depth application knowledge of RED's complete RAW workflow process, spanning digital acquisition through final post-production finishing. Day 1: Camera Fundamentals and Exposure

  • RED camera history and evolution in digital cinema
  • Current RED camera systems and sensor technology overview
  • Key technical concepts: global shutter versus rolling shutter mechanics and resolution considerations
  • Graphical user interface (GUI) overview and navigation
  • Exposure strategies and optimization techniques
  • Hands-on shooting exercise: mastering exposure, frame rates, and shutter angle settings
  • Post-production workflow and footage quality review

Day 2: Advanced Camera Settings and Color Science

  • Advanced GUI menus and user-configurable page setup
  • Frame rate selection and application in different scenarios
  • Compression approaches: downsampling techniques and future-proofing strategies
  • RED's advanced color science and Image Processing Pipeline 2 (IPP2) technology
  • Comparative analysis of REDCODE versus competitive compression formats
  • Hands-on shooting exercise: compression settings and IPP2 implementation
  • Post-production workflow and comprehensive footage evaluation

Day 3: Advanced Workflows and Professional Practices

  • Advanced recording modes including timelapse, cloud-based camera workflows, and FTP transfer protocols
  • Three-dimensional lookup tables (3D LUTs), color decision lists (CDLs), pre-roll recording, and global vision settings
  • REDCODE RAW versus in-camera ProRes recording modes and technical tradeoffs
  • Hands-on shooting exercise: advanced modes, FTP workflows, LUT application, and ProRes format recording
  • Comprehensive advanced workflow overview and best practices
  • Frequently asked questions for digital imaging technicians, data management professionals, offload procedures, and storage system architecture

Refund Policy

If a participant is unable to attend for any reason, you may transfer registration to an alternate date or location, or use the full credit towards a different workshop.

You may also transfer enrollment to someone else, but you must provide the updated registrant information prior to the start of the class.

If unable to attend, you must notify CourseHorse within 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone classes in the event of low enrollment or forces beyond our control. If the instructor is sick or unable to attend, we will notify attendees 48 hours in advance of class to reschedule for a later date.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
