Immerse yourself in the rich culinary traditions of Korea through this hands-on cooking experience. Guided by an expert chef, you will prepare a variety of authentic dishes using time-honored methods and ingredients that reflect the depth and complexity of Korean cuisine.
Begin with savory Mung Bean Pancakes (Bindaetteok), made with split yellow mung beans, pickled napa cabbage, bean sprouts, and green onions, served with a savory soy dipping sauce that complements each bite. Next, prepare a traditional Seaweed Soup (Miyeok Guk), a nourishing broth featuring kelp, garlic, and seafood stock that represents the warmth of Korean home cooking. You will also create Steamed Purple Rice, a colorful and nutritious blend of brown rice, white rice, sweet wild rice, barley, and quinoa that adds visual appeal and diverse flavors to any meal.
Continue with Starch Noodle Stir Fry (Japchae), where potato starch noodles are stir-fried with spinach, mushrooms, eggs, and a slightly sweet soy-based sauce that brings all the elements together in perfect balance. Conclude your culinary journey with Sweet Rice Pancakes (Hotteok), pan-fried treats filled with brown sugar and chopped nuts that provide a delightful finish to your meal.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class, and you may sample each dish as you complete it. Your chef will guide you through every step, ensuring you gain confidence and understanding of these traditional Korean cooking techniques that you can recreate at home.
