Reviews for Art Classes in Washington, D.C.

Art Classes in Washington, D.C. are rated 4.6 stars based on 114 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • The ring making class was SO much fun! I’ve already recommended it to a few friends. We plan on doing the class again in the future!
  • Great class with lots of one on one instructions. Lots of great suggestions on composition. Fun class.
  • I think everyone that showed to the class can we agree that we loved it. Is such a unique photography class. The instructions were easy to follow. The class was structured as follows: 1.) Instructor had a PowerPoint where you explained the technique, the props that can be used and how to build them. 2.) We took light painting pictures together with her in a big set. 3.) We followed that with pictures in a table top set. 4.) Lastly we were split in groups were we let our imagination run wild.
  • I enjoyed this class a lot. I learned some new techniques and got feedback on my photos. It was also great to practice taking photos with others. I recommend this class
  • My son and I attended this course. The instructor had a good presentation with lots of examples and best of all, he would stop by every single person each time he taught a camera function on technique. So many times if the instructor stays at the front of the classroom, it’s hard to know if you actually understand what’s being taught. Excellent course for beginners.
  • The class was great overall; really informative and interactive. I particularly liked how detailed the explanations were of each step, and the crossword was a nice touch to add historical and cultural context. Overall, I learned a lot and I left with a ring that I cherish and wear almost daily. I recommend this class to everyone I come across!
  • This was a very good intro class. Well explained and easy to understand. We got done about 40 minutes only suggestion I can think of is maybe put us through some more exercises if the class gets done early.
  • Learned so many useful tips for taking better photos. Highly Recommend.
  • I thought the class was wonderful. It was informative, interesting and exactly what I had hoped for. The instructor was great and obviously organized and competent. He used great examples and had a good sense of humor. He took the time to learn and remember names and he kept to a structure and time limits that were impressive. We started and ended on time! I learned so much in a way I understood. It truly was an excellent class. The only thing that I did not like about the class was the student he/you allowed to attend who was an Android user and was new to her phone. She monopolized his time, monopolized the space so it was often hard to take a shot you might want to take, and took time and attention away from the other students. I am curious about why she was allowed to take an I Phone class when she had an Android. I honestly think the instructor should have set some boundaries with her instead of giving her private instruction. This is the only criticism I have and it can be easily addressed by adhering to the class description that this is for IPhone users. Thank you.
  • Jennifer was a good time and made the whole process super fun!
  • I love it
  • Michael presented a great class. Lots of information explained fully and with humor. I've already recommended it to friends.
  • The class was great. The instructors were great. We had a great time.
  • Bob was a terrific help giving me a wide-angle look at photography as well as in the weeds helpful hints about the kinds of photos I'll be taking. As a result of this class, I have a renewed confidence in my ability to not just improve my photographs but to keep learning as I go. It was a fun three hours and I'm raring to take improved shots!
  • Great class, fun, and informative. Overall amazing experience worth the price 3 fold
  • The Couples Ring Making Workshop was a great experience. We have a lot of fun making our matching rings, very romantic. We learn a lot about how rings are made, and also a little history of Alexandria and the shop. The class is at a beginner level, so you don't have to have experience in making jewelry before. Some wine was served during class. You can also buy some of their unique jewelry, and take other classes if you are interested in making jewelry (not just rings). There are also many unique shops for you to look around in the area. A coffee place nearby was great and very cozy.
  • Excellent instructor and class, I really enjoyed it, learned a lot and plan to check out more classes
  • Outstanding! Exactly what I was looking for. Valuable guidance presented in an effective manner.
  • Thus is an excellent class for beginners and medium experienced photographers. Corey did a very thorough job of explaining settings and what to look for. He moved around to give each person in the class some individual attention. He answered questions and gave suggestions. It was a very positive experience.
  • Great class. Learned a lot. David was a great instructor and a lot of fun.
  • Fantastic course! Dan is a very knowledgeable and approachable instructor who brings a lot of passion for his craft to the classroom. Highly recommend.
  • We had a really small class just 4 of us. Dan gives great instruction - he demos each part of the process and then will provide additional assistance through each step of making your pieces. The studio is well equipped and they take COVID seriously with dividers between workstations and requiring masks and gloves (both provided) to all who enter. I’m already signed up for Metals 2!
  • Great beginner class for anyone looking to get into photography. Helps that it is an in-person class where you get to see hands on what each concept means and as a bonus you get to see various types of cameras - if you haven’t yet decided on buying/upgrading to one.
  • The class was fun and we learned a lot! The instructors are knowledgeable, flexible and help to develop your creativity! I can’t wait to take Metals II.
  • Jason Good was a great instructor with a wonderful sense of humor. He was able to keep everyone on pace and he handled questions and one on one seamlessly. #497 isn’t special
  • A lot of fun loved the process.Beautiful setting on rooftop
  • Alexa the instructor was great!
  • Really friendly and helpful staff who knew exactly what they were doing. The rest of my group was late, but the instructors still let them in and helped them have the same great experience anyway. There were a bunch of different options for the colors, scents, and decorations of your candle.
  • David was very knowledgeable, an incredible storyteller, and accommodating to our group.
  • Loved the class, instructor made is easy to follow and create a beautiful piece of art. Thank you
  • This class was amazing! The instructor, Dan, was an excellent teacher. In addition to being incredibly talented, he’s enormously entertaining. I had an awesome weekend learning how to set stones and had a great time, too. I would highly recommend this course.
  • I really enjoyed the class. You will learn proper techniques from highly skilled instructors to build a good foundation for starting your metal-smithing experience. The benches used are well appointed with quality tools and equipment making it easy to learn the right way to do things. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in learning how to make sterling silver jewelry.
  • I enjoyed the class! The benches were well equipped and proper use of tools was a focus. Both Dan and Emily were a wealth of knowledge. They were patient and helped everyone meet with success.
  • I really enjoyed this class. It made me get loose and be messy with art in a big studio space. I didn’t have to worry about making the painting perfect but just have fun with it. I also appreciated the BYOB addition to the class.
  • Lauren did a great job teaching the class. We had a problem finding the location in the building. The restaurant where the course was held was too loud. But other than those two complaints, it was an educating and enjoyable class. Fun date night activity!
  • I highly recommend this event and other similar type of activities!
  • The experience was one I’ll never forget I loved it want to stay for the other half but will definitely take it again and recommend it to others still practicing the techniques and using them in my business
  • I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Michael exudes excellence. His assistant, Josh was very efficient. They were organized and professional. The class was prompt and ran like a well oiled machine. Listen, I learned more in 4 hours and walked away with 3 arrangements. I took an 8 hour course in December and walked away angry! Michael also interjected humor, while still being firm. Kudos! I look forward to taking the 101.
  • I LOVED this class. I'm completely new to handwriting/calligraphy (and not at all an artist) but Heather (the instructor) was INSPIRING, sweet, friendly and a great teacher. She's seriously the most talented person I've ever met. I'm going to practice a lot so maybe someday I'll be good enough to take her more advanced classes! :) I'd highly recommend this class. It's reasonably priced (although if you want to continue what you've learned - you'll still need to buy the tools and materials from Plaza.) But they aren't very much - and it's nice to support a local art store. Heather was awesome! Loved her.
  • Great Teacher!
  • Bob was knowledgeable and fun. He explained concepts very simply. The class was perfect for beginners, I’m looking forward to taking another.
  • Good, independent learning!
  • Great opportunity to learn from a master calligrapher, Joanne Wasserman. The focus of the class was on students developing ccontemporary interpretations of traditional illuminated manuscript capitals. Joanne emphasized the visual “stories” which might be told through using decorated letters as a springboard to the imagination of the artist. Even though illuminated script is a revered, centuries-old art, Joanne encouraged us to explore our own expressive style in the class projects. Materials provided were good quality and the instruction and inspiration by the teacher first rate! You definitely don’t have to be a calligrapher to take this class—only to have a willingness to put your own spin on a a beautiful traditional art form.
  • Excellent class! Instructor was expert, helpful, interesting and fun. What more could you want?!!
  • Fun and educational. Suburb tour guide. Really enjoyed his inter-active activities and certainly learned a lot.
  • Dan is an amazing teacher! I signed up for the metals 2 class as soon as I finished metals 1. His jewelry making techniques are awesome and the level of information he provides for each step in the process is great!
  • Dan is a great instructor. We began working in silver right away and made a whole bunch of wonderful projects! I am excited to take Metals 2!
  • Caroline was a wonderful guide. I had so much fun and was able to engage with the art in a meaningful and exciting way. I would absolutely recommend this tour!
