Produced and co-directed by acclaimed Colombian filmmaker Ciro Guerra, Netflix's 2019 miniseries Frontera Verde starts out as a whodunit, but quickly morphs into something much more sinister and strange. In this course, we'll use Guerra's series as a springboard to explore topics such as the indigenous peoples of the Amazon, deforestation, the holocaust of the Rubber Boom in the early 20th century, and the environmental challenges of today. An active Netflix subscription is required to watch the weekly 45-minute episodes, which are in Spanish with Spanish subtitles.
