Question from Erick R.
Aside from the obvious price for one class versus seven, why are there two options. Is the first class only as a teaser and the remaining seven the complete course? Also, I have some material already started would that be used or would the classes be just to refine, in other words will the instructor not look at material already started? Thank you.
Answer from Billy C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
The 1 night class is just a short seminar with lecture and writing exercises (with limited sharing of results) on memoir fundamentals. The 7 week class has craft lessons, writing samples, in class writing and the opportunity to get feedback on 1200 words every other class. If you have some writing that you want to bring in that you already started, you can do that for the in class workshopping section after the first meeting of the 7 week class.

Memoir 1: Memorable Memoir Workshop
Reviewed by Anonymous on 3/22/2020
This course was a gift from my family for which I am very grateful. By profession, a prolific writer of policy analysis, media releases, political speeches, and legislative presentations, I had never attempted memoir writing. Our instructor is an accomplished, published author of two memoirs as well as a stage and television actor. She clearly grasps her craft. Her teaching style, though sometimes brusque - even a bit Socratic - communicates her criticisms cogently. Still, class/instructor give and take was often truncated by her cutting it off mid-sentence - almost as if she was expecting a taxi to show up any minute. The bottom line is that I am a better writer thanks to her and my classmates.
