Design and construct a variety of custom shirts tailored perfectly to your body and style preferences. In this six-week course, you will explore multiple shirt styles, working from your existing sloper blocks to create unique garments. Choose from a diverse selection of style options or bring pictures of specific shirt designs you wish to recreate.
Design Details and Construction:
Throughout the course, you will develop proficiency in creating specialized shirt components, including collars, cuffs, plackets, flounces, ruffles, pockets, yokes, and any additional design details you wish to incorporate. Your projects will be constructed from muslin to allow for multiple fittings and adjustments. The muslin prototyping process ensures a precise fit and allows you to refine proportions and details before creating finished garments.
Optional Half-Scale Approach:
You have the option to create your designs first at half scale on a mini dress form, then produce your final garments in your personal size. This approach provides valuable feedback and reduces the time investment in muslin testing while maintaining design accuracy. Throughout the six weeks, you will cover sewing and finishing techniques that produce professionally executed, custom-made shirts designed exclusively for your wardrobe.
