  • Great course, great instructors. Very informative and very fun.
  • Well done. Chef Tony led the class, supported by Chef Lisa and Chef David. It was a helpful, insightful class, even for a seasoned home cook. Lots of focus on technique with personal input from the roaming chefs.
  • The Knife Skills course exceeded our expectations! We learned so much and can't wait to be back for another class, as this one was so informative and fun. We highly recommend the course by Chef Trevor!
  • I learned a great deal in this knife skills class. Our instructor, David, obviously is a very talented chef. He did a great job sharing his encyclopedic knowledge about kitchen knives and demonstrating to the class how to handle the knife and use it appropriately and safely.
  • Great class! The instructors were patient, knowledgeable and friendly.
  • It was a very useful, practical, fun, and informational class. I loved learning a broad overview of different knives commonly found in a home kitchen. Moreover, the practice of skillfully and safely cutting/dicing/slicing and holding the vegetables, was immensely helpful. Such a great class and a life skill everyone should learn!
  • The Knife Skills class was great! The instructor was helpful and personable; his instruction was clear, precise, and based on professional expertise. Good pace. Hands-on. Lots of practice during the class. My husband and I left the class with improved knife skills, baggies full of chopped veggies to be used in a provided recipe, and all 20 of our fingers!
  • Class was awesome! I learned so much. Would recommend to everyone!
  • Great class learned to hold and cut, slice, and dice correctly. Loved it. Also cut my nails to hold my hand, fingers in the correct position. Great experience.
  • Knife Skills

Wasn't sure if I really needed this class but ended up learning more than I thought I would. Great instruction, small class which allowed for questions and help, have already started using my new skills.
  • I have really enjoyed this class and actually got to learn something. Giermo (sorry for incorrect spelling) was perfect
  • The best chef
  • Small class with plenty of hands on.
  • Very patient and knowledgeable instructor. Would definitely take a class with Max again.
  • Great class. The instructor was outstanding and the techniques she taught will make my cooking so much easier. Really liked that most of the class was devoted to hands on experience of practicing the knife skills she was teaching so that we could actual learn them. I highly recommend this class!
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

    Excellent class with mimosa.
  • Instructor and TA were great! The class was extremely informative. Wish it was a bit longer, but alas, you offer more advanced classes. Thanks for the surprise breakfast scone as well!
  • I consider myself an experienced home cook but still learned a lot, had a ton of fun and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Thank you for the thoughtful preparation and instruction!
  • Max was an excellent teacher! He was funny in his approachable teaching method while emphasizing the importance of safety and skills in the class. The class even motivated my husband to want to cook, which was my goal all along! I'm looking forward to using our new skills and to take more classes in the future!
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

Chef Ben was very patient and provided a lot of information in a fun way.
  • Instructor was great! Very smart and engaging. I would have loved to learn more on how to cut meat, chicken, fish, etc. We only learned how to cut veggies.
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

The Chopping Block did not disappoint. The expert chefs (Pete and Maggie) were informative, engaging and had fun with the class. All while we learned valuable information that can be applied to our time in the kitchen. My daughter and I enjoyed our Knife Skills class and we are looking forward to scheduling another, different class to continue the fun and learning! Thank you.
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

This was my third class at The Chopping Block and Lisa was the best instructor I’ve had yet, knowledgeable, funny and patient, demonstrating something repeatedly (in my instance, how to cut the foot and planks out of carrots) if it helps you comprehend a concept. But while Lisa is a very good teacher, every instructor and staff person I’ve so far encountered at this school has been exceptionally polite and goes out of their way to be helpful. I highly recommend taking a class here.
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

Learned so much and Sam was a brilliant instructor. Will definitely be signing up for the Advanced Knife Skills class
  • Excellent class! Chef Sam was informative and funny - I liked how he gave clear cut answers to questions. Highly recommend this class to everybody as knife skills are essential to being efficient in the kitchen! Plus, you learn about what to look for in purchasing knives so you avoid getting ripped off.
  • My son (15) and I had a great time at this class. He can’t believe how much easier it is to help in the kitchen now that he knows the proper way to chop all of the basic veggies and fruits. I am so glad that he can be on prep duty now!
  • This class helped me feel more comfortable with using knives and preparing vegetables. I had been nervous about cutting myself and feel more confident now. The techniques will save me time in the kitchen.
  • Great class. Fun instructer. Very hands on.
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

Excellent class for mastering the basics! Beautiful space and a super nice, knowledgeable teacher made for a great environment. Highly recommend for any who want to learn more about cooking!
  • This class was awesome! I really enjoyed learning more about knives (like which ones to purchase) and also hear more about how to cut. No idea you were supposed to turn your body sideways. I would really recommend this class - you also get to take home whatever we cut up so it makes for a good stir fry!
  • Great class! Great instructors! Great lessons!
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

Knife Skills was very informational. Lisa was an awesome teacher. Helpful and very patient while humorous. I learned a lot and will use the methods in my cooking. Thanks!
  • The venue, staff and chef were great!!
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

Melissa was very informative and the class flew by. It was great!
  • Hands-On Knife Skills

The instructor was excellent! She was very organized and detailed. She presented the information in a logical way and paced the class so that all could keep up but we were still able to accomplish all we set out to do. There was a second instructor who would float around and help us as well. We learned why chefs use certain knives for certain tasks and the types of basic chef's cuts for food. I would definitely recommend this class for anyone, as well as recommend taking other classes at the Chopping Block.
  • Basic Skills: Knife Skills

    Great class.
  • Teacher great & knowledgable
  • I really enjoyed the Knife Skills class. I didn't know how bad I want using a knife, until I learned the proper way in this class.
