Learn to create professional jacket patterns in this comprehensive six-week course focused on advanced pattern drafting techniques. You will construct a torso pattern block and a specialized jacket pattern block, including a designed lapel, professional lining, and two-piece sleeve construction.
Beginning with a perfected torso block, you will develop a jacket block with appropriate ease and comfort allowances. From this foundation, you will design a complete jacket featuring a professional lining and precisely drafted two-piece sleeve. You will have the creative freedom to add your own design flair and styling choices to each garment you create.
Over the six-week program, you will draft these patterns and sew them in muslin to test fit and construction quality. By course completion, you will have developed a reusable torso block suitable for shirts, jackets, or dresses; a custom jacket block incorporating a two-piece sleeve; and a fully finished jacket with professional details that you have pattern drafted and sewn from muslin.
Prerequisite: Flat Pattern Clothing Design. You must bring your sloper set from that course to class for reference and use.
