What you'll learn in this medical training:
Find out about the profession of medical insurance billing and coding, and the Westside Extension certificate program in this free information session.
Topics to be covered include:
Certificate Program
Healthcare is one of the most job-secure fields of the next few decades and knowledge of coding and billing can open lots of doors. Our certificate program will give you basic foundational knowledge and skills, an understanding of the types of jobs the knowledge applies to, and the variety of career paths. The program consists of 10 required classes, totaling more than 80 hours of class time, plus plenty of at-home and online practice. Developed by professionals in the field, it can be completed in about six months.
Participation in the Certificate Program is not required. Individual classes may be taken as long as you meet prerequisites. However, only students who successfully complete all required classes will earn our certificate.
Texts and necessary manuals are not included in the class fees. Some required books may be purchased in our campus bookstore; all are available online. Expect to spend approximately $500 for these books which provide up-to-date information and are used throughout the program. Click here for our Medical Coding & Billing Syllabus and Book List.
Because on-campus food services can be very limited, plan to bring a sack lunch for these all-day Saturday classes.

Refund Policy
Refund or transfer requests may be granted ONLY if you notify the Westside Extension Office AT LEAST 5 DAYS BEFORE CLASS BEGINS that you wish to cancel. This applies to any and all changes to the original registration – including transfers and credits. Refunds, transfers, or credits CANNOT be granted once class begins and CANNOT be issued for absences or if you register within five days of class. Some camps and off-campus classes have different refund policies as noted.
Notification of cancellation may be done by phone, in person, by mail or email. Refunds or transfers must be processed by the Extension office – you cannot do it yourself online. A processing charge will be deducted for each class refund or transfer, except for classes canceled by Westside Extension. The standard processing fee is $10 but some camps and classes (like Pharmacy Technician classes) have higher processing fees (Pharmacy Technician processing fee is $50). If you paid by credit card, your account will be credited. If you paid by cash, check or money order, you will receive a check refund (allow 4 weeks for processing). A credit toward other Westside Extension classes may be issued in lieu of a refund if you wish.
A full refund or credit will of course be given when a class is cancelled by Westside Extension.
