Hands-On Fresh Flavors of India
good class, good, teacher/chef. Would like to have discussed more about the different flavors and spices interacting with each other and taste profiles, but a good class overall. -
Hands-On Knife Skills
The class was great! Learned a lot of skills that I’m looking forward to trying at home. -
How to Bake Bread
Excellent space. Great instruction by Chef David and his outstanding assistant Alexi. They were very accommodating and helpful to make sure I was successful due to my hearing issues. Exceeded my expectations. -
Hands-On Knife Skills
I really appreciate the quality and detailed knowledge. Hands-on is always better, and that is what I received. Watching videos online is fine, but it is nothing like an instructor correcting your form and technique in person. If you want to make sure you have your technique done correctly, then I recommend this class. The chefs were very helpful. You can take your chopped veggies home, and they offer student discounts if you want to purchase kitchen items. A bench scraper is a lifesaver while working in your kitchen, too. -

Hands-On Vegan Holiday Dinner
Organized extremely well. Good student to chef ratio. Only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is felt rushed to eat what we made. Could use an extra 30 minutes to enjoy it. Thank you. I plan to sign up for more vegan/plant based classes. -
Hands-On Pasta and Gnocchi Workshop
Wow, what an excellent class! Even though pasta making wasn’t my strongest skill set, I still had a blast doing this. One of the assistant instructors could tell that I was struggling a little bit LOL and came to my rescue to help me, so sweet. Because some of the other participants arrived late, the class started later and it seemed like the instructor was rushing the process due to that. And also there was pasta we didn’t finish rolling out, and we were told we would be able to take home the extra dough and we never got that. Those are minor inconveniences & first world concerns but overall, this was a great class and I’d do it again in a heartbeat! -
Hands-On Pasta and Gnocchi Workshop
I went to the pasta-making class at The Chopping Block in Lincoln Square on Tuesday, September 2nd, and it was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. This class was a birthday gift for me (probably the best gift I’ve ever gotten), and it made for not only a super fun birthday outing but also a great date night with my partner. This was my first cooking class ever, and as someone who already loves cooking at home, I was blown away by how fun and hands-on it was. Chef Alexi was fantastic—she explained everything clearly, from rolling and cutting fettuccine to filling ravioli, and even the details of cooking the pasta just right. She was patient, thorough, and always ready to answer questions. Plus, there were other chefs walking around to offer help whenever anyone needed it, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. We cooked a lot of food—and even had enough to take home afterward, which was such a treat. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my birthday. I left with full hands (and a full stomach), new cooking skills, and some really great memories. If you’re looking for something fun, interactive, and delicious, I can’t recommend The Chopping Block enough. -
