Neigh·bor·hood – noun “neighborly conduct, friendliness,” Modern sense of “community…”

We opened Your Neighborhood Studio in November of 2006, on Washington Boulevard at the corner of Center Street and by 2009, we had grown out of our special place and moved to the former Debbie Allen Dance Academy, located on Hayden Avenue in Culver City. We grew from one small studio to three studios.

In 2013, it looks like growth is upon us again! This time we are growing to a second location! We are heading to Downtown Los Angeles! Our second location will be located at 101 West 5th Street and is set to open mid-October! We are so excited to be part of the growing DTLA community!

My name is Denise Mazan, and I am lucky enough to be the owner of YNS, which is truly the love of my life. I have the privilege of bringing together the most talented and passionate instructors in the industry. The saying “it takes a village…” couldn’t be more accurate. It is the entire community of instructors, members and staff that makes YNS, “YOUR Neighborhood Studio.” It is what has made this studio a staple in the Culver City community since 2006. Since then, YNS has been voted Best of Culver City three years running and voted the #1 Dance Studio in Los Angeles!

YNS now offers over 100 classes per week including adult and youth classes! Whether you are technically trained or just beginning your dance journey, we have a class for you! Our Technique classes include Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Broadway, West African, Bollywood, Tahitian, Breakin, House, Strip Hop and more! Our Cardio classes include  Dance it Out!, Hip Hop Fit, Zumba, Plyojam, Cabaret, Groov3, Cardio Carnivale, Cardio Hip Hop, Afro Pop, Pop Video, The Groove, Dancehall and Old School.

Our instructors have such a wealth of experience that I need to take a moment to brag about them. Besides being the embodiment of community and passion, their list of credits is long! They’ve worked with a couple of people you may have heard of including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Tina Turner, Beyonce, Rihanna, Usher, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, Ginuwine, Jamie Foxx, Nicki Minaj and many, many more. You may have seen them on So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew, The Academy Awards, The MTV Movie Awards, The BET Hip Hop Awards; they have been appeared on television and film and toured Broadway shows such as The Wiz, Fame and Dream Girls… the list could go on and on. Our instructors are experienced, working professionals that want to share their passion of dance with you!
