Spencer Cox

Teaches at Chicago Photography Classes

Spencer is a traveling landscape and macro photographer. He enjoys climbing over glaciers and being eaten by mysterious bugs in his backyard. Photography has taken him to some of the most beautiful places in the world, from Yosemite to Iceland, and he has seen some of nature’s grandest landscapes and tiniest details along the way. He has been an avid hiker and sunrise-chaser all his life, and his favorite food is freeze-dried soup — not at all because of the taste, but because of the memories it conjures. Photography is a way for him to be outdoors, and it is how he remembers what he sees. In April of 2015, he was invited to be an editor for Photography Life, one of the largest sources of photography information on the web. Soon after, his photo "Brown Anole" was recognized as the youth winner of the 2015 Windland Smith Rice Nature's Best Photography awards — it is currently on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
