The 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Course and 16-Hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) Course are the two required training components to begin and continue a career as a licensed security guard in New York State.

8-Hour Pre-Assignment Course (1 Day)
- Assistance with applying for your NYS Security Guard License
- Exam Preparation (GUARANTEED TO PASS THE EXAM)
16-Hour OJT Course (2 Days)- Must be completed within 90 days of employment
- Focuses on real-world job performance and procedures
Important Information:
- The 8-Hour course must be completed before applying for your license
- The 16-Hour course must be completed within 90 days of employment
- Additional state requirements include fingerprinting and application submission
Classes are subject to rescheduling based on enrollment. Premier Protection Institute reserves the right to reschedule, combine, or cancel classes if minimum enrollment requirements are not met or due to instructor availability, weather, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Students will be notified as soon as possible of any schedule changes. If a class is rescheduled, your registration and payment will automatically transfer to the next available class at no additional cost.
Important Information
- Registration is required to reserve your seat.
- Full payment is required prior to the start of class unless other arrangements have been approved.
- Students are responsible for attending all required class sessions to receive course completion credit.
- If you are unable to attend your scheduled class, please notify Premier Protection Institute at least 24 hours in advance so we can assist with rescheduling.

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
School Notes: Students must present acceptable photo identification per NYS DCJS requirements: a valid driver's license, valid US passport, current government-issued ID, or current military ID. No other materials needed.
