Skincare Formulation 101: Understanding Cosmetic Ingredients is an educational class designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of cosmetic ingredients and their role in creating skincare products. Students will explore how common cosmetic ingredients function, how they work together in a formulation, and how to make more informed decisions when selecting ingredients for skincare product development.
This class is divided into two learning sections. Part 1 is a one-hour live virtual session that introduces foundational skincare formulation concepts, ingredient functions, and cosmetic science principles, with time for questions and answers. Part 2 is a self-paced online learning experience in which students log into their Peach Academy student account and complete four course modules for a deeper understanding of cosmetic ingredients and formulation practices.
Throughout the class, students will learn about ingredient categories, formulation structure, product consistency, skin compatibility, preservation, and basic formulation safety. The course is designed to build foundational knowledge for aspiring skincare entrepreneurs, handmade cosmetic creators, beauty professionals, and anyone interested in understanding the science behind skincare products.
By combining live instruction with structured online learning, students can build their knowledge at a manageable pace while developing a stronger foundation for future skincare formulation projects.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
School Notes: For live in person classes - student are responsible for bringing their practice kits. We will send out kit list via email of requirements with recommendation where they can purchase supplies.
