Get started in Excel with this fundamental Excel course. Get comfortable using Excel and learn to boost your productivity with formulas, charts, and formatting techniques.

Master the core Excel functions in this one-day course. Learn calculations and data entry. Apply formatting to text and cells to make your spreadsheet scannable and visually appealing. In this hands-on training, you will learn all the basics to use Microsoft Excel as your primary data processing tool. You'll produce polished and print-ready spreadsheets while learning tricks to accelerate your workflow.

Prerequisites:

Prior experience with Excel is not required; however, attendees must be comfortable with computer basics.

  • Provides a brief description of the user interface for Microsoft Excel

Worksheets

  • Manage elements of worksheets

Data Entry

  • Examines and describes multiple means of entering data

Rows & Columns

  • Insert, delete, hide, and group rows and columns

Formulas

Autofill

  • Explores Excel's amazing ability to predict and extrapolate patterns

Calculations

  • Perform mathematical expressions and review the Order of Operations rule

AutoSum Functions

  • Review the five key functions: Sum, Average, Max, Min, and Count Numbers

Absolute Reference

  • Changing a cell reference into a constant, which is necessary for certain calculations

True or False

  • Tests to see whether criteria is true/false

Text Functions

  • Introduces functions used to modify text in Excel

Multi-Input Functions

  • More advanced functions that require more than one input

Formatting

Formatting

  • The addition of effects to an Excel document to provide visual instruction

Cell Styles

  • Apply consistent formatting to specific types of cells or values

    The instructor was amazing - the content was well made, in an order that made sense and easy to follow. The instructor's timing was spot on - it was clear she had done this many times before. She was helpful, patient & kind. This class went by surprisingly fast for as long as it was because of how structured the agenda was. I will be taking other courses here.

    This class was really good and I really liked the Instructor. Oddly when we Registered we thought we were registering for Mr. Garfield's class but ended up being Pete and we were pleased! When we register for Excel #2 we hope that we get Pete again and not by accident this time : )

    Instructor was great, very good at communicating. Class format was brilliant, we were shown how to use a certain tool and then had several tasks to perform to insure we knew how to use it. Would very much recommend to anyone who wants to get to grips with Excel!

    They had me the minute I heard "free retake". I had a really good experience, got a lot out of the class. Garfield was extremely knowledgable in Excel. He's a really good teacher, very patient, and moved through the instruction at a nice pace.

Does it matter what version of excel software I am currently using, to be able to follow and use skills taught in class?

Students are taught on 2016. For the most part, the skills are transferable, but yes there will be slight differences.
