Description

Investigate the evolution of postmodern photography from the 1960s through today's contemporary image-making. This course traces the artistic movements that shaped modern photography, starting with pop art, assemblage, and conceptual art approaches, progressing through the social landscape movement to current practices. You'll examine the groundbreaking work of pioneering photographers, including Andy Warhol and other masters of this transformative period.

The course explores constructed photography as a critical tool for examining ideas about authenticity, cultural hybridity, conceptual composition, identity construction, and the deliberate creation of altered reality in visual art. Through analysis and hands-on projects, you'll learn techniques to create photographs that reflect these sophisticated artistic concepts in your own imagery.

Course Format: This class is taught online via Zoom. All registrations must be submitted online at least two days before your class begins. Registered students will receive detailed login instructions one day in advance.

Program Track: FPC requirement option, master track, or FPC fundamental course, fine art track.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

Refund requests must be submitted to [email protected] 2 business days prior to the program’s start date and time. The registration fee will be refunded less a 15% processing charge. A refund is issued in the form of a credit on file (to be used for future programs).

Refund requests submitted less than 48 hours prior to a program start date are non-transferable and are not eligible for a refund.

Fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable on and after the program’s start date. We cannot refund fees requested on or after the start date of a program or for sessions missed due to student illness or other personal situations.

Registration fees for courses grouped and priced as a series will be considered one program and subject to all of the above guidelines. A refund request must be received prior to the start date of the series' first class session and will subsequently cancel your registration in every session of the series.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
