Description

With more than 85 million households in the United States including at least one pet, the veterinary field represents a growing and vibrant career sector. Veterinary Assistants serve as valued and essential team members in veterinary practices, animal clinics, and hospital settings. They collaborate closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to deliver exceptional quality care for healthy animals, sick animals, and injured animals requiring medical attention.

This comprehensive program provides students with hands-on training in the proper handling and safe care of companion animals; instruction in thorough examination procedures; and knowledge of how to identify and assess signs of illness, infection, and physical injury. The curriculum also covers animal anatomy and physiology; medical terminology and standard veterinary acronyms; principles of animal nutrition; legal and ethical professional standards; and the daily operations and business management aspects of a veterinary practice.

Important Program Notes:

This is an entry-level course and is specifically NOT equivalent to a Veterinary Technician program, which requires completion of a comprehensive two-year academic degree program.
Course textbooks are purchased separately and are not included in tuition.
The complete program consists of 75 hours of online live instruction with instructors, 25 hours of independent online learning modules, and a 40-hour hands-on externship at a veterinary facility.
Students will require reliable internet access, a functional PC, laptop, or tablet device, and access to a printer in order to fully participate in all course activities and complete all assignments.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

Class Withdrawal

If you request to withdraw from a class and the request is received by us 4 business days prior to class start date, a credit voucher valid for three(3) years will be granted, less a $20 processing fee.

Special policy for excursions and special events:

Refund requests for excursions and special events must be received no later than 11 full business days before the scheduled excursion or event.

Cancellation

If the College cancels a class for any reason, those pre-registered will be notified by phone and email and payment will be refunded. The school also reserve the right to substitute instructors or reschedule class times if necessary.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
