This watercolor class was a revelation—beautifully structured, thoughtfully paced, and led by an inspiring instructor, Allison, who made even the most complex techniques feel within reach. As someone who had never touched watercolor before, I left my first year not only confident but with a piece accepted into an art show—proof of just how transformative and empowering this class truly is. -
Twisted Wire Jewelry
This class involves one project, a lovely twisted wire ring, although if you're quicker or more skilled (I'm just kind of intermediate), you may have time for an extra piece. It was challenging, but I learned a lot and was pretty proud of what I accomplished. It will be even more exciting when the new jewelery labs at 92nd Street Y open with new equipment! -

The calligraphy class was an excellent experience. The instructor demonstrated extensive knowledge and provided thorough guidance throughout the course. Each week offered a thoughtful balance of instructional time and hands-on practice, which allowed for both learning and immediate application. It was particularly valuable to learn from such an experienced instructor with a long history of teaching and practicing calligraphy. -

My experience was overwhelmingly positive. The instructor was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. I would absolutely recommend and take this course again. -
Getting Started with Watercolor
The teacher is kind and patient. She went around the room to give instructions to students. I love the part that she explained how to do the color mixing. However, this is not a class for beginner at all. First, the pace of this class is very fast and the explanation is abstract. The teacher did slow down the pace after explanation, but it's still hard for a beginner to understand the differences of the skills (wet on wet, dry on wet, texture...). Second, the paint and paper that the teacher used is different from the students, so the modeling process is understandable, but when student do it themselves, it's just very different. As a completely beginner, I am frustrated throughout all classes. -
Paper Marbling
The class was very good. The teacher was punctual, knowledgeable, helpful and organized. We had plenty of space to work. Marbling paper can be messy. It would be worth it to sign up again, just to have a convenient space to make more prints. -
