Intro to Writing for Late Night TV

In this seminar/workshop, students will learn every facet of late night comedy writing, including monologue, desk pieces and remotes, with the goal of becoming technically proficient, confident and comfortable submitting material to various late night television programs.

Whether it's Letterman, Leno, or Maher, students will come away with the knowledge of how to write in any host's voice (something with which Mr. Abelson is quite familiar, as he has written for all three). The practical side of the business will be covered, as well-- how to work the writers room, pitching, getting an agent, taking meetings and of course, how to get staffed in late night comedy/talk/variety.
